The 2018 CMA Stranding Conference will be held on Oct. 27 and Oct. 28 at Clearwater Marine Aquarium. On Oct. 27 a lecture series will be conducted including presentations from Dr. Randy Wells; Chicago Zoological Society; Dr. Robert Bonde, USGS; Dr. Michael Walsh, UF; George Biedenbach, Georgia Aquarium Conservation Field Station; Dr. Stefanie Gazda, University of Florida; Dr. Lauren Smith, Zoo Tampa at Lowry Park; Rebeccah Hazelkorn, Mote Marine; personnel from Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission, and more! Lunch and snacks are provided throughout the day.
On Oct. 28 please join us for a poster display from undergraduate research students and concentrated breakout sessions. Lunch and snacks are provided.

The parking garage will open on Saturday at 8 a.m. with registration beginning at that time as well. Participants will need to collect parking garage access tickets upon entry and will bring those tickets into the conference with them. Throughout the day, Guest Services will be open where you will need to pay for parking, a $10/day fee. Please see any CMA staff member for assistance locating the Guest Services office.
After parking, participants leaving the garage will turn left, onto Island Way, and walk one block west to CMA’s main entrance (passing construction fencing). CMA’s entrance is located on Marina Way, staff will be assisting with directions.
Registration will occur just outside CMA’s main entrance, please have the name utilized in the registration handy for check-in. All participants will be issued a name badge the day of the presentations. These badges are used to identify conference attendees, allowing you access to behind-the-scenes locations. Please keep these badges visible throughout the weekend.
On Sunday the 28th, check-in will begin at 8:45am, with the parking garage opening then as well. From 9am-10am CMA rescue staff will be available to review resumes/CV and offer feedback, answer questions, and be available for networking, Break-out sessions (don’t worry if you’ve forgotten which sessions you registered for, we have your registration information ready at check-in) will begin at 10am. For all Cedar Key Dolphin Project breakout session participants, please bring your laptop on Sunday!
After your breakout sessions, you will have access to CMA to explore, the facility is open until 8pm both Saturday and Sunday.
Lunch and snacks are provided each day. Bring a reusable water bottle, dress comfortably, and plan on an exciting weekend with the best in the industry presenting on various topics!!
