MARINE BIOLOGY 101 (K-8th Grade) Learn marine biology 101 as you climb the phylogenetic tree and get an introduction to some of the animals that call Clearwater Marine Aquarium home. Discuss animal adaptations and strategies necessary for survival in different habitats. Examine the life cycles, environment, and feeding methodologies of various marine animals using touch to explore biofacts and live touch tank invertebrates. This program is $5.00 per student and lasts 60 minutes. OPERATION: WINTER’S TAIL (K-12th Grade) Learn about the chemical, biological, physical, and mathematical processes behind the most famous tail in the world. Explore Winter’s legacy and the Hanger Clinic’s process of creating a tail for an orphaned dolphin injured in a crab trap line. Though Winter is no longer with us, discover the dangers animals face due to human activities and get inspired to keep our oceans clean, recycle, and advocate for better fishing practices. RESCUE RESPONDERS (K-12th grade) Discover how Clearwater Marine Aquarium’s rescue response team works to fulfill our mission of rescue, rehabilitation, and release. Focus on anatomy and conservation as your students transform into mini-rescue biologists watching over their rescued dolphins. In addition, learn about the role CMA plays in rescues with many other species, including manatees, and how we can all work together to protect and preserve these species! BIOLOGIST-LED BOAT PROGRAMS ECO ED-VENTURE BOAT TOUR Embark on an unforgettable voyage of marine discovery aboard a Clearwater Marine Aquarium boat! Our immersive marine science curriculum invites students to explore the wonders of the ocean Explore Clearwater Bay as we look at the estuary environment and make observations about the animals that call an estuary home. Led by a marine biologist, students will learn about marine ecosystems and how to protect them, fostering a deep understanding and appreciation for the precious underwater world. 60-minute tour; $300 per vessel, 38 passenger capacity CHARTERED DOLPHIN AND WILDLIFE TOUR Explore Clearwater Bay during this 60-minute eco-boat cruise. Learn about members of our local dolphin population, travel around a bird sanctuary island, and view seasonal local wildlife. 60-minute tour; $300 per vessel, 38 passenger capacity CHARTERED SEA LIFE SAFARI BOAT TOUR Join us for a 90-minute scenic eco-boat cruise around our local estuary. Be a part of citizen science, and observe data collection in action, as we perform a net pull and conduct a “show and tell” onboard of sea creatures found in the grass beds and sand flats of the bay. Get your feet wet at a local shell island and collect seashells.* See local wildlife above and below the water! *Island stop may be canceled due to weather or inaccessibility, and boat routes may be altered by captain at any time. 90-minute tour; $375 per vessel, 38 passenger capacity SNORKEL ADVENTURE Hop aboard Clearwater Marine Aquarium’s education vessels for an immersive experience. Custom adventures include a 2-hour-long snorkel experience, as well as a narrated scenic trip by one of our Biologists. During the snorkeling adventure, students/guests can get up close with many of the area’s intertidal animals within the protected waters of Clearwater Bay. Sea urchins, crabs, sea stars, and snails are among the common finds. We customize this program to each age group so you are always within standing depth water. You will need to provide your own snorkeling gear, closed-toe water shoes, and towels.
